New Look 6469

I moved to a new house and I lost 25 pounds. Which made sewing very hard to do. None of my patterns fit me anymore and my size was changing so fast I tried making a summer dress and by the time I was finished, it was too big. Good problem to have I guess. I'm finally at a point I can get back on the horse and make some clothes and stop searching Amazon for clothes that are only good enough.

Meet my first dress back New look 6469

I went for something that wouldn't be too hard, and this dress was perfect. A raglan sleeve swing dress.

I omitted the zipper because it made no sense to use one. It's a stretch knit...pull it over your damn head. I just cut the back on the fold.

I did the turtle neck option to fool myself into thinking I'll be warm enough in a dress in a Iowa winter. I won't.

I made the short version, because I always do. Well, for the first time in my sewing career I wish I would have done the longer option. It's great for dancing, not great for bending over.

The fabric is some rayon I found at Walmart. The dress only takes 2 yards (1 and 7/8 yards to be exact, but do people really say that to the cutting lady at the fabric store? I can't. 2 yards please)

Not sure if it's the floral, the shine to the fabric, or the loose nature, but in some angles I fear it looks like a night gown or a mu -mu.

This will be made again. Such a quick sew with lots of small changes to get some versatility. I'm thinking a short sleeve with a high low hem or a crew neck long sleeve... quick! To the fabric store!

  1. Lovely dress, most definitely not a nightgown or a muumuu!😉

  2. I love it - best version of this pattern I've seen!

  3. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but
I find this matter to be actually something that I think I would
never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me.
I'm looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
